What is moissanite
Today, I will tell you what moissanite is. What are the conditions for a good Moissanite diamond?
Moissanite is actually a man-made gemstone:
Moissanite, also known as synthetic moissanite, synthetic moissanite (chemical composition SiC), has a dispersion of 0.104 larger than diamond (0.044) and a refractive index of 2.65-2.69 (diamond 2.42).
According to the 4C grading standard of diamonds, the color (Color), clarity (Clarity), cut (Cut), and weight (Carat) characteristics of synthetic silicon carbide.
Then let's start with 4c
1 Weight (Carat) Because the specific gravity of moissanite is lighter than that of natural diamonds (the specific gravity of diamond is 3.52, while the specific gravity of moissanite is only 3.22)
So in the case of the same volume (diameter), the actual weight of moissanite is lighter
(For example, the actual gram weight of the "1.0ct" moissanite with a diameter of 6.5mm is 0.92ct)
One carat=1.0ct=100 points=0.2g
2 Clarity (Clarity) Because Moissanite is synthetic, the general clarity is very high, and the clarity of the Belgian Magic Star is FL (the international standard is used) natural diamonds
Two sets of standards
International Grading Standards (GIA): FL (Flawless), IF (Flawless), VVS1 (Very Slightly Flawed), VVS2, VS1 (Slightly Flawed), VS2, SI1 (Slightly Flawed), SI2, I1, I2 , I3
China National Standard (NGTC): LC, VVS1, VVS2, VS1, VS2, SI1, SI2, P1, P2, P3 (P grade and below are generally not used for gem setting or industrial use)
3 Colors
The following grades are for loose diamonds only
Environmental requirements: Color grading should be performed under a professional colorimetric lamp and with colorimetric paper as the background
Personnel requirements: technicians who have received special skills training and master the correct operation methods, 2-3 technicians independently complete the color grading of the same sample, and obtain the same result.
